EIGHT batsmen bagged ducks as BAT Sports 2nd XI crashed to 32 all out and a nine-wicket defeat against Hampshire League County Division 1 championship contenders Bournemouth II at Chapel Gate.

John Barnes, Pete Biddlecombe and Sam Walker were the only players to make it into single figures, as teenager Morgan Parkin (5-17) ripped through BAT's top order and left-armer Matt Mixer (5-12) skittled the lower-order.

Newly promoted BAT were bowled out in 16.2 overs - and decisively beaten in 7.2 overs of Bournemouth's reply, although Dave Kidner was dismissed before the victory was achieved.

BAT, whose afternnoon of woe began at 1.30pm, were back at Southern Gardens by 4 o'clock, with 2nd XI skipper Dave Adams - one of the batsmen who failed to disturb the scorers - lamenting that he had driven more miles to Hurn and back than his team had scored runs !

The victory enabled Bournemouth to trim Tichborne Park's lead at the top of Division 1 to five points, but with all their relegation rivals also losing, the result made little difference to BAT's low standing.

Tichborne Park experienced few problems in beating Old Tauntonians & Romsey II by seven wickets.

Peter Tapper cracked an unbeaten 106 in Lymington's 30-run victory over Calmore Sports.

Peter Bleek's five-wicket haul enabled CD2 leaders Locks Heath to grind out a 41-run win at Amport, while Fair Oak overcame a batting collapse to snatch a one-wicket win at Cadnam, where teenager Greig Stewart was the last gasp hero.

Nick Best cracked 141 not out of Hursley Park's 250-3, but finished a loser as Langley Manor triumphed by four wickets.

Teenager Wayne Royan cracked 106 in Pylewell Park's 18-run win over Liss, while Eddie Rademaker hammered an undefeated 157 in IBM Hursley's 65-run victory at Sparsholt.
