Romsey and Totton Swimming Club have received a £750 grant from Test Valley Council to be used towards their pool hire costs during the year.

Irena Collins, Community Support Officer from TVBC, presented the cheque to club coach Steve Harrison at Romsey Rapids, pictured.

Harrison swam internationally for eight years, representing Great Britain and England. He attended the World Student Games, two Commonwealth Games (winning a silver medal in the backstroke), the European Championships, was in the top six teams in American College swimming and is a British Backstroke Record Holder.

The club recently held their novice championships at Totton Recreation Centre, giving swimmers who had not achieved a medal place in the annual club championships (held in December each year) the opportunity to compete.

Many of the Club's more experienced swimmers assisted during the evening with time-keeping, announcing and whipping (making sure the swimmers are in the right place at the right time).
