SHOWBIZ duo Richard Digance and Mike Osman are ready to sprinkle some "fairy dust" on Eastleigh's bid to scale the non-League pyramid.

The Hampshire-based funnymen will use their star-studded contact list to inject some cash and glamour into the go-ahead Ten Acres club as they prepare for their debut season in the Southern Football League.

DJ/impersonator Osman and comedian/guitarist Digance, pictured, are good friends of Saints legend Matthew Le Tissier, whose half a dozen appearances for Eastleigh last season made them the talk of the south.

Digance, a life-long West Ham fan now living in Romsey, has been involved in non-League before as a director of Yeovil Town and 18 months ago both he and Osman were part of a four-man consortium, along with ex-Saints and Pompey boss Alan Ball, who tried to take over Salisbury City.

He explained: "Eastleigh came to light because of Matt playing for them last season and I've been impressed with their go-ahead attitude.

"Coming from West Ham, I've been like a warrior in the wilderness in football terms since I moved to Romsey 11 years ago and when Paul (Eastleigh manager Paul Doswell) invited us to put some glitter on the cabaret side at Eastleigh I thought it was a nice idea.

"I'm happy and honoured to be part of things. I know Eastleigh have enormous plans and they proved it last season by signing Le Tiss. It probably made them the most famous non-League club in Britain.

"I don't think I could have chosen a club with more vision and the dream is to get us into the Football League - do or die."

He added: "Living in Romsey, it's a nice jaunt for me and a great opportunity to watch lots of football. A friend of mine, Mick Maplesden, won the Lottery and bought Hastings United, who are in the same league as us now, so we'll be smashing each other up next season!"

The ambitious Doswell, who delivered his promise by leading the club to the Wessex League title last season, smiled: "This is huge news for us. Mike and Richard are coming on board as fans to promote the club and will be organising half a dozen do's a year.

"They won't be putting money in themselves because they don't need to. They'll be bringing all the stars down here and I reckon we could make £10,000 a night with that type of do. The amount of people they know is frightening!

"We've got Saints coming here for a friendly on Tuesday, July 22 and we're going introduce Mike and Richard to the crowd.

"Mike's a terrific impersonator and will do ten minutes on the mike before kick-off."

To add to their celebrity status, Eastleigh are being lined up for a 15-minute weekly slot on Southampton TV, following on from the Saints programme.

"It's another fantastic opportunity for us," said Doswell. "All the Saints fans watching will get to know about Eastleigh and it's a boost to our sponsors to see us on television."
