SIPPING a glass of red wine on a balmy evening, listening to mellow jazz a stone's throw away from Winchester's historic cathedral - it doesn't get much better than this.
This really was a good value evening and for £20 a head there was great music, tasty food and a complimentary glass of wine too.
It was an evening for the senses.
There were the wonderful sounds created by this accomplished quartet from Southampton.
Then there was the mouth-watering aroma of food being barbecued along with a variety of salad dishes followed by cheesecake and coffee.
The taste lived up to the anticipation created as it was cooked before our eyes - and there was no stinting on the portions.
Finally then there was the wonderful contrast of the modern refectory building with the towering presence of the cathedral in the background.
