The Isle of Wight's T D Al Said scored England's opening goal in the Kronenbourg beach soccer European League group game against champions Portugal.

But it was not enough to stop the favourites, who eventually ran out 6-4 winners yesterday.

The Isle of Wight has a second footballer in the England team in G C Giancovich, pictured left training on Brighton beach before yesterday's game.

The competition continues today and tomorrow with matches for England against Eric Cantona's France and Italy.

Last night, Matt Le Tissier captained a Southampton All-Stars team against Brighton All-Stars in a special exhibition match.
