SOME of the world's greatest collectors' items are going under the hammer - all in the name of a Hampshire charity.

A signed Paul McCartney guitar, a signed Rolling Stones guitar, a framed signed 1966 England squad shirt and Muhammed Ali's hand cast with a signed picture of him with the Beatles are all up for grabs.

The rare collectables are expected to fetch thousands of pounds for the Geoff Smith Foundation, which raises money for people with multiple sclerosis.

The charity was launched by Geoff from Southampton after he was diagnosed with the illness five years ago. It needs to raise £30,000 more to reach its £125,000 target for a holiday home in Spain where MS sufferers and their families can relax.

The Paul McCartney and Rolling Stones signed guitars are valued at more than £4,000 each but are expected to fetch more during an auction next week at the charity's annual golf day and evening dinner.

The event is taking place at the Botley Park Golf Club next Friday and will be attended by Saints hero Matt Le Tissier, as well as former defender Richard Hall and club captain Jason Dodd.

For football fans there's a large framed squad shirt signed by every member of the '66 winning team except for Sir Bobby Moore, a programme, match ticket, plaque listing the team and copies of a newspaper after England lifted the cup.
