Dibden left-hander Kevin Saunders led the field in the South Region PGA qualifying school at Clandon Regis.

The Hampshire PGA champion stroked a six-under par 66 to join the likes of former Ryder Cup star Steve Richardson and another Hampshire left-hander James Ablett on the South Region PGA Tour which starts at Old Thorns this week.

Former Meachers Masters champion Ablett was a qualifier with a level par 72 at Donington Valley.

Chilworth professional Ceb Aby is just back from sunny climes in the United States where he and his team of amateurs, among them his sponsor, put on a good show in a couple of pro-ams.

Aby fired rounds of 68 and 76 for seventh position in the Phoenix Pro Am then took 18th place at Sawgrass after rounds of 71 and 72 on the Valley course.

But there was disappointment when he got home and failed to qualify for the Southern PGA Tour.
