A BASINGSTOKE scooter fanatic got married in style on Saturday thanks to his friends from Basingstoke Scooter Club.
The limousine carrying bride Annabelle Smith to join her husband-to-be Steve Keane, 35, from Old Kempshott Lane, at Basingstoke Register Office was accompanied by 22 outriders on colourful Lambrettas and Vespas.
Steve, the proud owner of a 1964 Lambretta, said: "We met on a dance floor at Great Yarmouth Scooter Rally almost a year to the day before our wedding."
Annabelle, 35, from Westerham in Kent, wore a patterned silk dress by Ben de Lisi with burgundy boots.
Steve wore a blue corduroy reefer jacket by Paul Smith, with a hand-made shirt and pinstripe trousers.
The couple were attended by three bridesmaids, Annabelle's niece Lauren Ellis, Steve's goddaughter Naomi Chapman and his niece Mica Keane, while Steve's brother Ian Keane acted as best man.
After the ceremony, the couple hosted a karaoke wedding reception at the Gem Sensors social club in Lennox Road, Basingstoke, which was attended by many of the 56 members of Basingstoke Scooter Club.
They then travelled to Great Yarmouth on Sunday to spend the beginning of their honeymoon at the same annual rally at which they met.
Steve joked: "Annabelle does not ride a scooter of her own - but now we're married she'll have to ride on the back of mine from now on!"
