A Neville Stamp double sent Basingstoke Town shooting back up to sixth in the Ryman Premier Division at the expense of bottom club Hampton & Richmond Borough.

'Stoke had never before won a competitive game at the Beveree Stadium, but all that changed as Stamp fired them to a 2-0 victory.

After surviving an early scare when Enrico Grimm had a goal disallowed for the Surrey side, 'Stoke took the lead in the 37th minute as former Reading defender Stamp unleashed a left-foot volley from 35 yards.

It became a family affair when Stamp's brother Nathan - a new signing from Queen's Park Rangers - joined the fray as a second-half substitute.

But it was Neville who took centre stage, getting his name on the score sheet again two minutes from time by slipping a low shot under the goalkeeper from Jason Graham's assist.

League leaders Aldershot Town continued their title push with a 2-0 home win over Enfield.

Both goals came just prior to half-time with Roscoe D'Sane striking from the penalty spot following a foul on new signing Aaron McLean and Paul Buckle heading home an inch-perfect cross from Mark Hammond.

The stage is set for a mouthwatering north Hampshire derby at the Camrose Ground tomorrow night when the Shots are Basingstoke's visitors.
