NOTORIOUS Fareham troublemaker Terry Miller bragged to pals "I got off lightly" when spared a prison term for breaking his anti-social behaviour order for a second time.

Leaving court after being found in breech of the order preventing him entering Fareham town centre, Miller said: "What a great day!"

Homeless Miller, 20, was arrested by police last Thursday after he was spotted in the Osborn Road memorial gardens, an area within the banned zone.

Jobless Miller told police he didn't realise the gardens were part of the exclusion zone.

The order, the first to be imposed in Fareham, was made in December after Miller committed a string of unprovoked attacks on shoppers and terrorised shop staff.

Mitigating, solicitor Stephen Bentley said it was inevitable Miller would stray into the banned area.

He said: "Here we have a young man not well educated, without a job or permanent home. It is inevitable that situations like this are going to arise.

"He is not back in court for being anti-social but is back in court for crossing the line. He hasn't got the finances to get out of the area."

Magistrates were also told that Miller was still on licence after being sentenced to six months for breaching the order a first time and serving only half the term in jail.

But instead of sending him back to prison magistrates made an order for Miller to visit an attendance centre every week until he has completed 24 hours there. His comment to the Daily Echo after the hearing was: "Last time I was sent down for three months and this time I have just got to go to an attendance centre. What a touch!"
