EVEN non-jazz aficionados know the name George Melly.
On Wednesday the charismatic musician makes another pilgrimage to the Concorde Club, Eastleigh - this time joined by trumpeter Digby Fairweather and his Half Dozen.
Besides making his mark in the jazz world, Melly is also renowned as a raconteur, presenter and art critic.
Digby currently divides his time between leading his Half Dozen and The Best of British Jazz and the Great British Jazz Band, which he co-leads with Pete Strange.
Cole Mathieson of the Concorde Club says: "When George is here, you can never be quite sure what will happen. One thing can be guaranteed though - a wonderful evening of jazz and blues coupled with George's irreverent humour and razor-sharp repartee."
Tickets cost from £11. Box office: 023 8061 3989.
