FlyBe experienced an unprecedented response to its Fly for £1 offer.
Sales last weekend were boosted by 60 per cent and internet sales shot up to a massive 77 per cent, with thousands of seats being purchased within hours of the sale going live.
Passengers were able to purchase tickets for just £1 (plus taxes andcharges) to a range of European destinations including Geneva, Jersey, Cork and Milan (Bergamo).
The promotion, the most successful in the airline's 25-year history, was so popular that the booking period was extended by 48 hours.
"FlyBe is reinforcing its position as a vibrant, growing airline, serving the regions with a clear strategic plan moving towards the low cost sector,'' said Mike Rutter, FlyBe's marketing director.
"We will continue to sell heavily discounted one-way tickets, focused on internet selling and intend to run promotions such as the £1 offer, throughout the year.''
Other incredibly low fares from FlyBE. include flights to Dublin, Brussels and Guernsey from just £29; historic Toulouse from just £39 while the golden beaches of Malaga and Murcia can be reached from just £49.
FlyBe will carry more than three million passengers this year on its network serving 20 UK and 17 international destinations.
The airline is launching a new low cost hub at Southampton introducing flights to Jersey, Dublin, Milan (Bergamo) Geneva and Belfast on March 30.
