New head coach Ivor Gumm admitted Southampton Saints did not: "do themselves justice" in yesterday's 2-0 home defeat by Leeds United in the FA Women's Premier League National Division.
After a gallant performance in the 1-0 defeat at league champions Arsenal the previous week, the relegation-battling Saints were undone by some sloppy defending at Winchester City.
To rub salt into the wounds, Michelle Walsh's 30th-minute opener for Leeds came via an excellent cross from Fair Oak girl Shelly Cox, who was facing her old club for the first time since her switch to Yorkshire.
The second came with 15 minutes remaining when England international Sue Smith fired home.
Gumm, who leads his girls into a relegation six-pointer at Everton next Sunday, said: "I've seen the two sides of my team now. Last week we were superb and this week it was not so good. It's a case of lifting them now and getting them to believe in themselves again."
