Gosport boss Mick Marsh watched his side slump to a 5-0 defeat at Andover and admitted: "The title's Eastleigh's."

Second-placed Gosport arrived in Andover a week after throwing away a two-goal lead at lowly Whitchurch.

But they came away from Andover with their Wessex League title hopes in tatters. Former Eastleigh man Vince Rusher marked his 250th game for Andover by helping his old Ten Acres teammates go a step closer to the championship.

But Rusher left the scoring to his Andover colleagues.

Danny Sullivan volleyed a left-wing cross past Geoff Sims after just three minutes and a Dean Cole brace ensured a 3-0 half-time lead before substitute Sam Rey and hotshot Justin Bennett added two more from close range.

Marsh said: "I think our chances went when we drew 2-2 with Whitchurch and, as far as I'm concerned, it's finished now.

"We're playing for second place, although I would have been happy with that at the start of the season.

"We're more than capable of winning all our remaining games and one of those is against Eastleigh, who still have to play Andover and Wimborne, but realistically it's over."

Gosport's 5-0 defeat equalled their biggest of the season - the 6-1 reverse at home to Eastleigh in October.

Marsh added: "It was a fair result, we didn't perform at all. We gave the ball away in midfield too much.

"Vince Rusher caused us lots of problems in a free role but we didn't defend well. I was surprised at how bad we were at this stage of the season and with so much to play for, but I take the blame because we kept trying to play football when the conditions weren't conducive to that. We should have been a bit more direct."

Brockenhurst boss Pete Moore admitted he was lost for words in the half-time dressing room at Grigg Lane on Saturday.

With only 21 points to their name at kick-off, winning had been quite a rare experience for the New Forest side.

So imagine Moore's surprise when his side went off after 45 minutes steeped in the luxury of a 4-1 lead against Newbury.

Speechless is not a word you'd normally associate with the former Poole and Bashley boss, but he admitted: "I had no idea what to say to the players."

James Bailey-Pearce put the Badgers ahead on 15 minutes on his way to a first-half hat-trick and Lee Connor bagged the other. Brock eventually ran out 4-2 winners.

BAT teenager Danny Boere scored the winner against Downton in his last game before joining the Royal Marines.

Midfielder Boere, 18, who netted in the second half, was due to begin his training with the Marines today.

Former Saint Dave Puckett had scored a tap in to give BAT a half -time lead, with Boere doubling the lead on the hour.

Boss Andy Leader said: "We wish Danny all the best, hopefully we'll see him again before too long. We passed it well in the second half but it was a heavy pitch and we made hard work of the win. We hit the woodwork three times and missed four open goals."
