TEN out of ten for the originality of the name - but what about quality of the food at Ha Ha!?

Based at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, Ha Ha! is a delightful place to eat, with lovely dcor and a very comfy feel thanks to the squashy sofas.

It's a chic place to eat, very busy, with a young and trendy clientele. We are both mid-30s and wondered if we were a little old to be let in!

When we rolled along one midweek evening, the place was bursting. They were serving from both the seated full service area and also the wider bar area, but despite being full to the brim, the service was efficient, and the food delicious.

Being the height of summer, we wanted to try something light, so the spicy minced lamb kebabs with warm flat bread and tzatziki kicked things off nicely. That was accompanied by a gorgeous tabouleh salad, skinny chips and mustard mayo. Absolutely delicious and very filling.

We both went for the same choice, but you can take your pick from an adventurous menu featuring everything from linguine with asparagus tips, to romesco salmon fillet and lime-dressed chicken salad.

Incidentally, on a Sunday, Ha Ha! serves a traditional Yorkshire pud and roast.

Ha Ha! Trading produces its own range of dressings and speciality sauces which are available on the tables and also to buy to take home. These include leaf dressing (very nice), a rather spicy tomato and pepper ketchup with a good kick, mustard mayo, spicy salsa, yellow devil sauce and Moorish olives.

The puddings looked absolutely stupendous, but we had a cinema date to meet and couldn't try them, but I would love to go back for a helping of their cheesecake New York-style with red fruit compote. One of the diners on the next door table was served the cheesecake, and it was almost worth sacrificing Tom Cruise for.

The meal, including two soda waters, a wine, a liqueur and a coffee came to just under £25. Definitely worth a repeat visit.
