TALENTED local youngsters get their teeth stuck into some challenging plays at Southampton's Nuffield theatre this week, with an eclectic double-bill of youth productions.

The Nuffield's two youth theatres, Stage Door (for nine to 13-year-olds) and Access All Areas (for 14 to 25-year-olds), will be performing in the theatre's new youth theatre studio.

Stage Door will present Borders, Barriers and Bridges, a play inspired by the true story of a young Afghan asylum-seeker. Directed by Jeremy Rycraft, artist in residence at Southampton's Cantell School, the show weaves text, music and movement in a docudrama form.

The Access All Areas production is Sharman McDonald's Shakespeare-inspired After Juliet, set during the tense aftermath of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The explosively dramatic tale was premiered at the National Theatre in 1999.

You can see Borders, Barriers and Bridges on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday March 15, while After Juliet will be performed on Wednesday, Friday March 14 and Saturday March 15. Tickets: £4. Box office: 023 8067 1771.
