LINVOY PRIMUS gained yet another award this week as Pompey's Premiership dreams took a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

The 29 year old defender was named as the Nationwide Div 1 PFA fans' player of the month for February - to add to his three player of the month awards from Pompey's own supporters already this season. The Fratton faithful swamped the PFA website with their votes - securing him the award ahead of more than 500 other players in the division. It's no more than this devout Christian deserves. He began the season as a standby for the incoming big names like Festa, Foxe and De Zeeuw. He clearly didn't feature largely in Harry Redknapp's plans, being seen as part of the discredited 'old guard'. But a combination of injuries to the others has meant that Primus has played in all but a handful of Pompey's games so far in this epic season. And he's been by a country mile their most consistent performer, culminating in Redknapp recently rewarding him with a new one-year contract. "It's great to know I'll be in with a chance of playing in the Premiership for Pompey, providing we get there!" he said this week. The club's progress went from the sublime to the ridiculous this week with the stunning 5-nil success last Saturday at Millwall being followed by the 2-1 defeat a few miles away against Wimbledon on Tuesday night. With the home game against Norwich having been switched from tomorrow (Sat 8th) to next Wednesday (12th) there's a chance for everyone to settle down before going again for the final push. The promotion celebrations are on ice for at least another week or two.
