SHE'S the most important person in the world. She's the one who cooks your meals, tidies up around you, gives you a cuddle when you are sad and always looks after you when you are poorly.

Now the Daily Echo's younger readers are being given the chance to reward their mums, with the launch of our special Mother's Day competition.

Throughout the next two weeks - in the run up to the big day on Sunday, March 30 - we are inviting children across Hampshire to Draw Your Mum and send the colourful pictures to us.

Everyone who enters will have a chance to lay their hands on a brand new bike. We've got two up for grabs - as well as a top prize for the mum of the overall winner.

There are two categories for the competition - one for youngsters up to the age of four and a second category for schoolchildren aged between five and ten.

The two winners will be picked out by our team of judges and the overall winner of the pair will win a fantastic family portrait especially for mum to put up on her wall.

The top prizes have all been donated by Grahame Jackson Photography, based in Latimer Street, Romsey.

And the generosity doesn't stop there.

Each child who enters the competition will receive a free £50 voucher for a sitting at the studios. Both mums will also receive a beautiful bouquet of flowers worth £30 each, courtesy of Southampton florists Flowers, based in Canute Road, delivered on Mothers' Day.

The closing date for entries is Friday, March 21.

All entries should be submitted on A4 paper, in colour, with a separate piece of paper detailing your name, age, address and telephone number, AND THE NAME OF YOUR MUM!

Send entries to: Draw Your Mum competition, promotions department, Daily Echo, Newspaper House, Test Lane, Redbridge, Southampton SO16 9JX.
