Hamble company Point Source is on the expansion trail with plans to create another 100 jobs in Hampshire in the next 30 months.

The ambitious plans by the company, which is a former holder of the Daily Echo KPMG Hampshire Company of the Year accolade and has scooped a top industry award from the Prince's Trust and won ultimate twin Queens Awards for Innovation and International Trade, were revealed by managing director David Pointer to Eastleigh MP David Chidgey on a visit to the hi-tech fibre optic factory.

"In the last nine months we have expanded our organisation internationally and have sales offices in Germany, the Netherlands and the US,'' said Mr Pointer.

"Traditionally we have operated from Hamble but now the business has grown we need to decentralise and get closer to our customers. This has been very successful. We expect to see a 50 per cent growth in sales over the next year.''

Mr Pointer has already acquired the building next door to the company's base at Mitchell Point to provide space to double output. The new jobs at Hamble will be split between manufacture, research and development and administration. The company will be looking mainly for manufacturing technicians.

During his visit, Mr Chidgey met members of the present manufacturing team.

Mr Pointer founded the company in 1991. It currently employs 75.
