CARPET shop owner Dave Hayes is shutting up shop in West Street to run his business from home.

After 30 years Fareham's oldest independent trader is moving his business out of the town centre after predicting a downturn in custom once the Market Quay complex opens next year.

As reported in the Daily Echo on Monday Mr Hayes is cutting his losses in Fareham after deciding to run operations from home.

Mr Hayes said: "The rent is going up and unfortunately this end of West Street is becoming less attractive to customers.

"That is why I am moving the business to home and my outlet in Waterlooville."

The shop on West Street will close at the end of March but Mr Hayes can still be contacted on 01329 232780. Customers are also welcome at his Waterlooville Victory Carpet branch contactable on 023 9226 6699.

In Monday's article it was not made clear that My Hayes business will continue to run from other outlets. the Daily Echo would like to apologise for any misunderstanding.
