ROLY from Grange Hill would be making a beeline for the nearest tuck shop if he caught sight of the new breakfast menus at six Southampton schools.
An Outer Shirley Regener-ation Board grant of £119,278 has funded six special breakfast clubs for pupils at Mansel Infant, Mansel Junior, Mason Moor Primary, Newlands Primary, Redbridge Primary and Shirley Warren Primary Schools. The Breakfast Clubs provide children with a nutritious breakfast before starting the day. The children then clean their teeth and there is time to play games and a chance to catch up on homework.
Redbridge Primary School head teacher Jane Shiers said that their Breakfast Club is proving to be a success, adding: "The Breakfast Club is a really effective way of developing both the children's knowledge of healthy eating and correct table manners, which we hope will provide a good foundation in later life."
