POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked in the grounds of Andover's Cricklade College on Saturday night.

The attacker, who was smartly dressed, started following the woman at about 10.30pm.

He then approached her from behind and pushed her three times against a wall.

WPc Cheryl Beasley said the woman suffered extensive bruising and grazing to her head and face during the attack.

The man halted the attack and fled when two or three other men arrived on the scene to help her - and the police are keen to speak to them.

The attacker is described as being white, aged 40 to 45, and wearing a dark suit with a light blue shirt and a tie with white stripes.

Police are keen to hear from the men who helped the woman, witnesses or anyone else who can provide information about the assault.
