Wintry weather didn't put off Andover Athletic Club's athletes in the recent Ferndown cross-country event.

Oliver Glynn was the first Andover athlete home for the U11s, finishing in 11th place. Gary Jones and Anna Scott were close behind.

Bethan Southwood was a few places back, while Laura Shepard did well to come home in 24th place in the U13 girls' event.

Emma Stott fought hard to take home 21st in the U14s, while James Faulkes was 23rd place in the U15 boys' age group. Kerin Hooley in the U17 boys' race finished in 7th place.

At the next meeting, a few mad athletes braved -4 temperatures to compete in a 10k race at Stubbington Green. Helen Dobinson smashed her personal best by eight minutes, giving her 39th place overall, and she was the 16th over 35.

Mike McGuire came 309th, 67th over 40, and Kelvin Mason was only a few seconds behind in 348th, 29th man over 50.

The sprinting squad were in action too, at Bedford for the indoor championships. Dominic Adams got into the second round of the 60m but his new PB of 7.57 sec wasn't quick enough to take him in to the next round. Fern Parker gained a new PB in her 60m semi-final but once again the competition was a little too strong for her.

Holly Croxford also made it to the 60m semi-final and her time of 8.17sec was only a whisker away from her PB. Rachel Harris got through to the second round of her 60m with another PB. Even though none of the athletes made it in to the finals, their times were all very pleasing to their coach George Williamson.
