POLICE today confirmed that criminal investigations into the death of an Isle of Wight girl found to be suffering from severe malnutrition have now been closed.
Detectives said a thorough inquiry had been completed into the circumstances surrounding the death of 12-year-old Charlotte Collett, pictured above, and a detailed file including expert medical evidence had been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Today police said the CPS had concluded there was insufficient evidence to charge anyone in connection with the youngster's death, and a 46-year-old Island woman who was on police bail had been released.
Charlotte, of East Cowes, weighed just three-and-a-half stone when she was admitted to hospital in July last year.
