THE widow of Falklands hero Colonel H Jones has agreed to attend a memorial service in the New Forest.
Sarah Jones, chairman of the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory, will read the lesson at the service at Ringwood Cemetery on February 16.
Her husband was posthumously awarded a Victoria Cross after the Falklands conflict in 1982.
He was commanding 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment when it was ordered to attack enemy positions near Darwin and Goose Green.
Colonel Jones charged the enemy line but died after being hit by gunfire.
The memorial service will commemorate men and women who served at RAF Ibsley, a Second World War airfield near Ringwood.
