THE NATIONAL and international successes of master swimmers from Basingstoke swimming club enabled them to attract one of the most sought-after coaches to the Aquadrome.

Jane Asher currently holds 26 short and long-course world records for her age group. At last year's world championships in New Zealand, she won all the events she entered.

The 71-year-old puts her success down to technique and she spent 90 minutes lecturing and demonstrating to local swimmers and club coaches how they could swim more efficiently.

The swimmer, based at Wimbledon, waived her normal fee, so swimmers made a charity donation of more than £100 which will shortly be presented to Macmillan Nurses.

Club head coach Steve Greenfield said: "Events like this help to keep the club at the forefront of swimming teaching."

The club provides lessons for all ages and squad training for the more experienced swimmers. If you are interested, telephone Greenfield on 01256 351921.
