THIS is the face of the man detectives want to speak to in connection with a serious sexual assault on a teenager in Basingstoke.
Officers say a man approached the 17-year-old victim and two of her friends - a male and a female - at Basingstoke bus station last Monday night.
The four of them then walked towards Eastrop roundabout.
The teenager has told detectives that, shortly after, between 10pm and 11pm, she was seriously sexually assaulted.
She then fled back to the bus station, where she was discovered in a distressed state.
The teenager has described her attacker as white, 5ft 6ins tall, aged between 17 and 25, and with black hair that was either greased or gelled back.
He was wearing blue or black jeans, training shoes and a black jacket.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the group of four people around the time of the alleged attack.
They are also appealing for help from anyone who thinks they may recognise the man, or who may have seen someone fitting the description in and around the town late last Monday.
Officers say it is possible that, following the incident, the man may have caught a bus from Basingstoke town centre.
Anyone who can help is urged to contact Detective Constable Kevin Gee, of Basingstoke CID, on 0845 045 45 45 or telephone the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
