ONE OF Marwell Zoo's star attractions is looking decidedly unsteady on her feet, but it is not the fact she's only one month old that has her all wobbly.

In fact Bonita the dorcas gazelle has broken her leg, although it does not seem to have slowed her down much.

The gazelles are on loan to the Winchester zoo from the Spanish Government, thanks to Marwell's international reputation for getting rare breeds to mate.

Dorcas gazelles come from the arid plains of Africa and the three babies born at the zoo swell the park's population to eleven.

In fact, so successful are Marwell Zoo at getting this rare breed to produce offspring that the gazelles have only been at the zoo for seven months, and there are apparently more baby dorcas on the way soon.

As for Bonita, vets say she will make a full recovery and will only have to wear the blue splint she's currently sporting for about another six weeks.
