Chris Marsden believes that Liverpool's bad run is set to come to an end soon - he's just hoping it's after Saturday.

The Saints midfielder, who will line-up against Gerard Houllier's men for the third time this season at St Mary's on Saturday night, says that the number of quality players in the squad means the Reds will hit form soon.

Liverpool, who turned Saints over 3-0 and 3-1 in the league and Worthington Cup at Anfield earlier in the season, have not won in 11 matches but Marsden, pictured below, joked: "They are on a terrible run - seventh in the table!

"They may not have won for 11 games but it just goes to show how many points they got earlier in the season.

"It's one of those situations where you know that sooner rather than later they'll get out of it - let's just hope it's not this week.

"Liverpool have got a squad full of class players and we've already been beaten twice by them.

"I thought we were probably the better side in the Worthington Cup match but you certainly couldn't have seen them having their current problems back then.

"But these things happen in football and it shows that even the best players can be affected by a lack of confidence."

Marsden, who has been acting as the team's captain while Jason Dodd is sidelined with a calf injury, added: "The next four league games are massive for us.

"Liverpool, Sunderland, Manchester United and Blackburn away - get positive results out of those games and we'll be doing really well.

"But we know if we lose them we could be back down to 10th or 11th."

The kick-off at St Mary's this Saturday is 5.35pm with the game to be screened live on Sky TV pay-per-view.

It's the second late kick-off Saints have had in the last few weeks after starting ten minutes later than that in the 4-0 routing of Spurs, which was live on BBC.

"If we get the same result as last time we played late then that kick-off time's fine with me," said Marsden.

"With everything going so well at the moment, it's a nice place to work and we'd play at 2am.

"It's good for the club to be on TV again, especially as the performance against Tottenham made a lot of people sit up and take notice.

"And, of course, we desperately want to keep our unbeaten home record going."
