CLAUS LUNDEKVAM is set for his 250th Saints appearance tomorrow in the clash against Liverpool - the club he supported as a boy.

But the Norwegian insists there will be no room for sentimentality as in-form Saints go all out to settle a score with Gerard Houllier's men.

The Reds are the only team to beat Southampton by more than one goal this season - doing so twice - with 3-0 and 3-1 Premiership and Worthington Cup victories at Anfield.

Lundekvam pinpoints Michael Owen as a major threat in the televised St Mary's match and knows he will have to be at the top of his game to shut out the former European Footballer of the Year.

Saints are full of confidence and will be going all out to maintain their unbeaten home record and also stretch their run of games since defeat to 11.

In contrast Liverpool are currently on a terrible run of form, although Lundek-vam does expect them to turn it around.

"They were the team I followed as a boy, but that will all be forgotten on Saturday," he said.

"I find it very hard to understand that they've gone 11 games without winning.

"They have a great team and a great squad.

"It will certainly be a tough game, especially playing against Owen.

"He is very quick, can score goals and we have got to be on our toes.

"His movements, runs and how he plays make him very dangerous.

"He is a good goalscorer and also very clever."

But while Owen might be the obvious danger, Lundekvam is also sure to be wary of El-Hadji Diouf, who has already scored three times against Saints this season.

Recalling the two Anfield defeats, Lundekvam, pictured left, said: "We played very well against them earlier in the season, but just couldn't score and the results were a bit harsh on us.

"They have very good attacking players, but I don't think those results necessarily reflected the games and I don't think they are important for this game.

"We are all very positive at the moment and are looking forward to the game.

"We are still unbeaten at home and want to make sure we keep that record going."

Saints are currently fifth in the Premiership table, two places above Liverpool and in their highest position since Lundekvam signed back in 1996.

The 6ft 3in centre-back said: "I'm not worried about where we are in the league - we just have to concentrate on the next game and take it as it comes.

"I'm not really surprised by our run, because we have been playing well all season."
