THREE young Eastleigh wordsmiths have become radio stars by writing poems for the mayor.
Edward Hauschild of St Swithun Wells Roman Catholic Primary School, Chandler's Ford, Rebecca Whitfield, of Bursledon Junior School, and Chloe Treharne of Bishop-stoke's Stoke Park Infant School were winners in East-leigh mayor Gillian Connell's poetry competition.
The contest was held to find more than 100 poems for a book, called Words and Dreams, which has now been published and is being sold in aid of the mayor's charity appeal.
The talented trio were able to wax lyrical on the radio airwaves.
The youngsters, accompanied by the mayor, were VIP guests at Southampton's Radio Solent studios where they were able to recite their winning words on the Afternoon Programme.
