LOTTERY chiefs have refused to discuss Test Valley Borough Council's failed grant attempt with councillors and officers.
The council applied for awards for all funding towards eight healthy living centres to promote exercise, leisure and healthy living in the borough.
Cllr Caroline Nokes, portfolio holder for leisure, said: "The lottery board when approached by the head of leisure made it perfectly clear they were not prepared to discuss the matter further.
"There would be no meeting or further clarification. "The national lottery's board does not appear to be smiling on us."
The council has also failed in previous attempts to gain lottery funding and was attempting to find out the reasons for the failed bid. The health living centres project is continuing in a scaled-down form.
