The Longbridge heat in The Reelcare Winter Series was frozen off and there were poor results from Greenridge Farm, but the Match Lake at Broadlands had superb sport with 33lb needed to get into the top six.

Bournemouth Lodge's Nigel Fitzgerald took 24 carp for 63lb 4oz on pole and maggot for a superb victory from unfancied peg 26 with carp to 4lb.

Fitzgerald caught the bulk of his fish early and finished ahead of Cormor-ant Team Sillybait's Richie Yeo with 17 carp for 56lb 12oz on pole and corn fished just off the bottom on peg 4.

Teammate Steve Roches-ter was third with 45lb 13oz, which included 18lb of bream.

At Greenridge Farm, Poingdestre's skipper Clive Egerton weighed in more than the rest of the competitors put together when taking six carp for 21lb 8oz on pole and maggot from peg 15 on Canal Two.

Cormorant's Steve Buck-sey finished a remote second with 3lb 2oz, consisting of one carp and two roach from the next peg to the winner, with Dave Rick-wood third with 2lb 7oz and Jem Turner (Dorset Rai-ders) fourth with 2lb 3oz.

Canal One was even worse with Micky Maidment (Davis Tackle) winning the section with just 1lb 3oz of tiny roach.

TVAC Open on Embley saw victory for Homestores Select's Ray Hayward, who took two big tench and five skimmers for 18lb 11oz on waggler and maggot from peg 14.

Teammate Graham Tap-penden finished second with two skimmers plus roach for 6lb 6oz with Gordon Warner third with 5lb 8oz and Pete Newman (Poingdestres) fourth with 4lb 4oz.

Cormorants' club match on Longbridge saw victory for Richie Yeo (Cormorants Team Sillybait), who took ten carp for 64lb 10oz with fish to 9lb on the method feeder and maggot from peg 22.

John Banks finished just one fish behind from peg 4 with nine carp for 58lb on the waggler nd pellet with Graham Maton (Cormorants Team Sillybait) third with three carp for 33lb.
