Winchester squash ace Susie King excelled at a recent grand prix event in Birmingham.

Playing in the under-17's category she stormed through the first round, defeating Anna Pearse.

In the second round she came up against Danielle Dawson, ranked number one in England.

King, ranked seven in the country, showed great determination to take Dawson to four tough games, but narrowly lost.

Winchester juniors first team, led by team captain Jonathan Morbin, defeated Lee-On-Solent's second team in a Hampshire Division 1 clash.

They then beat the IOW first team.

Winchester juniors second team, captained by Luke Davies, easily won their Division 2 matches against Seacourt and Abshot.

Each player not only won their matches but none of them lost a single game.

Winchester men's first team bounced back from their last defeat to record a superb win against title contenders New Forest.

Without Tim Vail playing at number one, everybody moved up a place and they all won with exception of Ian Cleland, who was returning to action after an eye injury caused by a firework.

Still not able to focus on the ball's path all the time, he fought courageously from 2-0 down to bring the scores level at 2-2 but lost a hard-fought fifth game.
