The Stour Championships fell foul of the constant rain of late with a match arranged at Hordle to take its place.

Dorset Raiders' Nathan Fox took 43lb 12oz of carp on the pole and corn fishing tight to the island on Willow for victory.

Christchurch angler Barry James finished second with 39lb 12oz of carp to 5lb from the monk peg on Long Lake with Wimborne's Stuart Halliday third with 38lb 12oz of carp from the monk peg on Tench Lake with 20lb of his weight coming in the last hour.

Mickey Dean (Bournemouth Lodge) finished fourth with 36lb of carp and skimmers taken on the long pole and maggot from Willow.

The Pewsey Open on the Kennet and Avon Canal between the boats and Wilcot Bridge saw a good turnout of 56 anglers and just 1lb separating the top six in what was almost certain to be a practice for this Sunday's Winter League which looks certain to be transferred to the canal from The Dorset Stour.

Todber Manor's Jason Randall took a 2lb tench and a brace of big skimmers plus bits from peg 102 on the boats on pole and squat and pinkie to scrape home from team mate Ben Dukes with 6lb 12oz consisting of a 2lb tench, a big skimmer and bits from the straight at Wilcot.

Andover's Dave Tucker finished third with two bream and bits for 6lb 11oz from the boats.

Others: S Stockley (Pewsey) 6lb 2oz, P Sears (Eastleigh) 6lb 1oz, S Lovell (Todber Manor) 5lb 15oz.

Todber Manor, in second place in the Winter League, will relish the prospect of the last three rounds of the series being on the canal if this week's forecasted rain causes The Stour heat to be cancelled. League leaders Eastleigh will face a formidable task to remain out in front.
