REVENGE will be the only thought on the mind of Olympic junior champion Tony Hill at Ikon nightclub next Monday.

The three-time national champion is unbeaten in more than a year, but will be taking on London's Simon O'Donnell - the only boxer to have ever beaten him twice.

Despite those defeats, Hill will enter the ring confident after enjoying an outstanding year.

In July, the Lordshill youngster travelled to the United States and followed in the footsteps of boxing greats Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad to land Olympic gold.

Among those in the crowd that day were Emmanuel Steward, the trainer of Lennox Lewis and formerly Thomas Hearns, who described 16-year-old Hill as 'awesome'.

But Hill has long wanted to fight O'Donnell.

Trainer Stuart Gill said: "His opponent on Monday is a former English champion, but Tony is very confident.

"When I told him he had the fight he was over-the-moon. He wants to knock O'Donnell out."

Also in action will be the Golden Ring club's other three-time national champion James Richardson.

Richardson is involved in another intriguing bout against England international Mike Graydon from Bristol.

Both Richardson and Hill are again in the final of this year's NABC championships.

Hill will fight Sunderland's reigning English schoolboy champion David Dolan in Manchester on December 13 while Richardson will fight in London on December 9 against current junior ABA champion Gary Sykes, from Leeds.

Richardson won the semi-final of the Class C under-57kgs division this weekend against Dean Smith from Dagenham with a clear points victory.

Two Hampshire boxers have never before made it through to the national championships finals in one season and joining the Golden Ring duo of Hill and Richardson will be Eastleigh's Jamie Weston.

Weston turned in a sparkling performance to progress in the Class B under-75kgs division.

Also in action at next week's Ikon show will be top Golden Ring prospects Mark Atkins, Craig Mattingly and Mitchell Whitehead.

At last month's Ikon show Atkins produced one of the performances of the night to stop Titchfield's Danny Cousins.

Next week he will be fighting in his first senior bout against Sussex boxer James Brewster.

Whitehead should also be full of confidence after recently being named best boxer of the night at a show in Bristol.

There will be 12 bouts on Monday night and the Golden Ring club will be looking to match their performance last month when their boxers won every bout they were involved in.

Doors open at Ikon nightclub next Monday at 8pm. Tickets cost £8 each and are expected to sell fast.
