BASINGSTOKE Town's south coast connections had the first and last word in Saturday's 4-2 win at Heybridge Swifts.

The North Hampshire club seized the lead four minutes into first-half injury time through on-fire former Eastleigh striker Craig McAllister, who latched onto Efan Elad's throughball before coolly rounding 'keeper Ricky Clarke.

Goals by Danny Wornham and Paul Cobb briefly turned the tables after the break, but Stoke hit back on 73 minutes when Ricky Allaway and McAllister combined to set up former Reading hitman Neville Roach. Four minutes later, Roach was involved again, this time supplying the cross for Allaway to stab home.

And, with the game spilling into stoppage time, it was another south coast lad, Southampton-based Glenn Howes, who took advantage of a poor clearance to score from 25 yards.

Steve Hemmings was dismissed at the death for Stoke, but it was another big result for Ernie Howe's men who have won eight of their last nine games and sit fifth in the Premier Division.

Miracle man McAllister now leads the division's goal charts having scored 19 from 22 games in all competitions.
