A SERIAL carjacker who stood and watched as a pal stabbed New Forest estate agent Tim Robinson to death has been jailed for seven years.

Aaron Jones, 17, teamed up with Dwaine Williams, 18, to try to steal Mr Robinson's £20,000 Audi from outside his £400,000 home in Battersea, south London on January 27 this year.

When Mr Robinson. 25, refused to hand over the keys, Williams pulled out a knife and stabbed him seven times. Williams was jailed for life earlier this month after he pleaded guilty to murder.

During the attack, Jones smothered Mr Robinson's girlfriend's mouth to stop her screaming.

Jones was also charged with the murder but it was left on file after it was accepted he did not know his accomplice was carrying a knife.

He was jailed yesterday after admitting his involvement in the series of carjackings that led to the attack.

He also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob motorists of cars.

Mr Robinson suffered from stab wounds to the face and chest and died after spending three days on a life-support machine.

Jones, of Brixton, London, has previous convictions for robbery and aggravated burglary.

His barrister, Andrew Munday, QC, said: "Although he is not criminally responsible for the act of Williams of killing Mr Robinson, he accepts he has a moral responsibility and accepts that without his presence with Williams that night, the offence of murder would not have occurred."

Mr Robinson, who came from Beaulieu, was believed to be the first person killed by carjackers in Britain. His father, Kenneth, is the former managing director of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
