Hampshire players Andy Jenkins and James Wade have all fared well in Isle of Man events.

Jenkins won the singles tournament and then partnered Wade to success in the pairs. He then partnered Appylee Jones to success in the mixed pairs tournament. And who did they beat in the final? James Wade and Staffordshire's Sherrie Dodd!

Jenkins then moved on to a tournament in Derry prior to the Paddy Power event that started on Sky TV this week from Dublin. He was beaten in the semi-final by Phil Taylor.

At the Paddy Power event, as this is being written, Jenkins had won his first round match 2-0 but was not really at his best.

Five months ago two Hampshire players left to go to Australia, Canada - and points in between. The aim was to work a bit, have a bit of fun and take in some dart tournaments.

Ian Eames had not played a competitive game, including league, for five months and only been practising again for two weeks. But, at the Geelong Open Singles on Sunday, he beat number 12 seed Ralph Brown (Victoria) in the first round 4-1. And he won the next two rounds 4-0 and 4-2 before losing 4-2 to Ralph Pearson in the last 16.

The tournament was subsequently confirmed as carrying BDO points and the first tournament for points for Embassy 2004, superseding Sweden as the first event of the new season. Defeat in the last 16 earned Eames two BDO points, which puts him top European in the ranking list!

In an email home Eames said: "I was pleased with the day's play, especially as I haven't played for such a long time. It's good to get some ranking points on the board. Top European, that'll be something to live on for two weeks!"

Simon Whitlock (Queensland) beat Steve Duke Senior (Victoria) 11-7 in the final.

Eames competed in the pairs on the Saturday with Bob Anderson from the Isle of Wight, who is in Australia visiting.

They lost in the last 32 but another former Hampshire player, Dave Anderson, and partner Simon Whitlock were beaten in the final by Steve Duke Junior and Ralph Pearson.
