Dominique Jones is all set to arrive in time for this weekend's Solent Stars home matches in basketball's National Trophy when he flies in from Pittsburgh.

He was due to have have an opportunity to meet and practise with his new teammates last night. After that, the six feet five inch, 233lb 25-year-old will be plunged straight into the action when Solent take on NW London today (Fleming Park, 8pm) and Worthing Thunder tomorrow (4pm) in their final two National Trophy matches.

Still without a victory from the eight matches played so far in the National Trophy, Solent are anxious to demonstrate that they are ready for the Conference League opening match the following week by getting on the winning path as soon as possible.

Coach Mark Scott is hoping that the form shown in last week's game at Worthing, when Solent narrowly lost (84-87) will be repeated at home in front of the Solent supporters.

If David Butterworth can continue with shooting that gained him 29 points in that game and can gain more scoring support from his fellow players, there is no reason why Solent could not be looking for two wins from the two games. NW London demonstrated that, like all London clubs, they play exciting basketball.

Two weeks ago NW London were winners by 21 points against Solent (65-86), who once again showed that point scoring is a weakness with the team only averaging just over 70 points from their eight National Trophy games.

Last weekend Solent were without Simon Morton, Chris Glover (both illness) and Chris St Omer (work) leaving a squad of only eight players. Hopefully, they will all be available for selection. Steve Fitzsimons takes charge today in Mark Scott's absence.
