THE latest restaurant to sign up for Festival Place is Spur Steak & Grill.
The company has chosen Festival Square as the venue for only the second of its restaurants to be opened in the UK, following the successful launch of Arapaho Spur in Middlesex earlier this year.
The square will be the food and leisure area of Festival Place.
It will have 18 cafs, bars and restaurants, a 10-screen cinema and a nightclub. It will be set around a landscaped, open-air public space and the cafs and restaurants will have partially-covered outdoor seating areas, allowing al fresco dining throughout the year.
Already well-established, with more than 200 restaurants in South Africa, Spur aims to offer a combination of family-friendly service and affordable prices.
The menu ranges from succulent steaks - marinated with the secret Spur baste - to lively tex-mex dishes complemented by the beers, wines and cocktails.
For under-nines there is a chance to join the Spur Secret Tribe club. Free to join, membership of the Tribe includes a free bottomless soft drink and a toy with every meal and access to the soft play area, providing entertainment for energetic youngsters.
This area is monitored by TV screens located in the restaurant, so parents will be able to keep a watchful eye on their children at all times.
Stephen Logue, managing director of Spur Europe BV and franchisee of the Basingstoke restaurant, said: "We are thrilled to be opening our second UK Spur Steak and Grill within the impressive Festival Place development.
"Our success is based on fast, friendly service within a child-friendly environment at unbeatable prices that mean a family of four can enjoy a meal for as little as £25."
The interior of the Spur restaurants is evocative of native America and food is flame-grilled to order.
Spur Steak and Grill, which has already begun fitting out its restaurant within Festival Square in time for the October opening, will be open seven days a week from noon until late.
