A HAMPSHIRE mum whose daughter's brain was removed without her knowledge after she died, will today discover when she can finally lay her little girl to rest.
Three years ago 11-year-old Jodi-Marie Bennett died just eight days after undergoing pioneering throat surgery to remove a life-threatening facial lesion.
Unbeknown to her devastated mum Tracey Attwood, the youngster's brain was removed by pathologists and stored for testing.
Tracey, 38, from Malory Close, Thornhill, Southampton, made the shocking discovery that part of Jodi was being retained at the hospital last July, two years after she had buried her daughter.
Today the trainee hairdresser, who has a 20-year-old-son Jamie, will learn when a second tiny casket can be interred beside her daughter's body.
Jodi had undergone pioneering surgery to remove mouth lesions that she had since birth. Surgeons feared that without surgery the lesions could have ruptured and she would have bled to death.
Tragically Jodi suffered a haemorrhage and died.
