RS BASINGSTOKE return to league action tomorrow after reaching the final of the Basingstoke Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

RS saw off Andover New Street 3-1 to book a place at the Camrose on May 3 (7.30pm) when the holders will meet Winchester City.

Andover took the lead after nine minutes when Matt Belbin lobbed Tim Hyde from 35 yards.

RS hit back with Craig Luckens heading an easy chance wide from a Dale Bristow cross in the 17th minute but the visitors were dangerous and Belbin put a good chance wide and Turpin should have done better with a headed opportunity.

On 36 minutes, RS equalised after a good run by Bristow, who cut in and laid on a perfect chance for Marc Fox to hammer home from six yards.

On 41 minutes, referee Mick Walsh ruled Bruce Davis was impeded by Swayne and, from the penalty kick awarded, Brian Cook drilled home past 'keeper Tasker.

In the early part of the second half, RS took control of the match with Fox shooting wide. In the 52nd minute came goal number three as Tommy Clayson's great cross saw Craig Luckens head home an easy chance.

Gary Jones had a 35-yard shot tipped over the bar by Tasker as the Basingstoke side were clear winners.

Last Saturday, RS came back from 2-0 down to grab a point at Finchampstead. On 65 minutes, a Tommy McCormack corner was headed in at the far post by Simon Nellor and then a superb 25-yard effort from Bruce David flew into the top corner for a point.

Tomorrow RS travel to Binfield with an injury doubt over defender Stuart Bye.

RS Basingstoke reserves drew 1-1 with visiting Stockbridge in the North Hants Supplementary Cup on Saturday.

The home side took the lead as a corner cannoned off the crossbar and Ryan Evans pounced to knock in the rebound. The visitors equalised 15 minutes from time.
