HARDLEY Runners' Malcolm Renyard brought the curtain down on a superb season by winning the 55-plus age-group at the British Veteran Cross-Country Championships in Mansfield.
Tucking in behind the leading men's 50 runners, who fought their own battles ahead of him, he stayed in contact around the three-lap course and always led the over-55 race, despite falling in the final 200m run-in.
Renyard, who made the 200-mile trip north with Hardley clubmate Jack Hutchison, finished eight in the 10K race, with Nick Rose winning the men's 50 title.
It was another notable success for Renyard having already won his age-group at the Hampshire Championships at Dibden and gained silver at the Southern Champions at Parliament Hill Fields in London.
