A Fareham theatre is looking for the child stars of "tomorrow, tomorrow" to feature in a new production of Annie.

The musical - made famous by the 1982 film starring Aileen Quinn as Annie and Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks - features the famous song Tomorrow. Now Fareham's Ferneham Halls are looking for budding actors to play the title role as well as other child and adult parts.

Director Russell Davies said applicants for the Annie part need to be girls who look between nine, ten or 11 years old.

He said: "They need all round skills - to be able to sing, dance, act and work well with adults. In a reference to the musical's canine character Sandy, he said: "they also need to be able to handle a dog."

Mr Davies has already auditioned 192 youngsters for the 32-strong cast. However, the much coveted lead role remains up for grabs.

Mr Davies said: "We did get down to a shortlist of 31 and we will want to see them again, but we are also very keen to see anybody who hasn't auditioned yet."

Auditions for both adult and junior roles will take place Sunday 21 April at the Osborn Road theatre and all applicants should arrive with a song and music on cassette tape or CD.

Anyone interested in applying should contact Sarah on 01329 824864 and ask for an audition form.
