Victory for X-Parrot, Big Boys Toys and Shakatak in Southampton Yacht Club's Spring Series Race 2 - Sunday 24 March 2002

The second race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's Spring series on Sunday 24 March saw a south easterly breeze of 15 knots.

The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off Netley and were able to set longer beats and runs due to the wind blowing up Southampton Water. The multihull class were first away at 1010, Dragonfly 800 Scooby III led to the windward mark off Hamble River but Corsair F28R Shakatak pulled away to win by five minutes on corrected time.

In Class 1 racing under IRC the Trevor Clarke's Bavaria 44 Gigabight was first to finish but Mike Garvey's X-332 X-Parrot went onto win by thirty seconds on corrected time from Kathy and Rupert Smalley's MG26 Quango with Sigma 33 Skybird third (Eddie Lee). Class 3 - racing under club handicap, was led by Hunter 707 Big Boys Toys(Andrew Percival) who took line honours and corrected time victory by 1 minute 22 seconds from Graham Sparks Freedom 27 Grace with third Sigma 33 Iskareen (Michael Perrin).

After two races X-Parrot, Big Boys Toys and Shakatak all have perfect scores of two wins each.
