AMANDA Proctor continued her excellent build-up for the London marathon by winning the women's trophy at the Petersfield half-marathon.

It was another outstanding run, in a personal best time, to follow victory at the Bramley 10-mile road race, where the Basingstoke and Mid-Hants runner set a new course record and another personal best.

The Petersfield course was undulating and the conditions windy but Proctor clocked 1hr 20min 23sec to finish 16th overall.

At Bramley, Proctor clocked a course record 59:23 to lead Basingstoke to victory in the women's team race, aided by Linda Purves and Sue Hanley.

Darrell May was the first Basingstoke runner home at the Solent 5k road race at Southampton. In a hard race in windy condentions, he clocked 16:11. Don Powell was the third over-50 vet in 18:38.

* Basingstoke's Walter Thorpe will be running the Paris marathon on April 7.

* Basingstoke and Mid Hants AC road runners will be running, along with past London marathon winner Mike Gratton, a training day from the Alton Sports Shop on April 7 (10am).
