Winchester KS maintained their undefeated record and regained the top spot in Division One of the Hammonds Jewellers South Hampshire Indoor Cricket League at Fleming Park with a 20- run success over Paultons A.

But they are joined on 89 points by BAT Sports A, thanks to a comfortable three-wicket win over previous leaders Lymington to set up a mouth-watering closing contest on March 10.

Winchester's victory seemed unlikely when they were skittled out for just 88 against a potent Paultons attack. Only Stuart Marks (25) countered against Tony Richman (2-13) and the economical Pete Lamb (1-11).

Losing openers Colin James and Duncan Park with just a single on the board stunted their reply, which continued to go downhill as Dave Greetham (2-14) and the rest of the WKS attack strangled the Ower side to 69-4 in their 12 overs.

Lymington's hopes of taking the title seems to be all but gone as they sit nine points adrift with one match to play.

Their 112-3 target was overhauled with some ease by a solid BAT batting performance.

Jon Mottashed (27), Glyn Treagus (22) and a undefeated 21 from Dave Griffiths set the Foresters to their total, but Dave Banks's retired 26 and Dan Goldstraw's swashbuckling 28 not out against his former team-mates saw the Totton men home with eight balls remaining.

At the nether end of the table, Sarisbury Stallions have thrown themselves a lifeline in claiming their first victory of the season.

But they could not have imagined the measure as opponents Southampton Institute were dismissed for a measly 15 inside four overs in reply to the Stallions' 115-2 (Brogan 29*, Journeaux 25*).

But for nine wides and two other extras, the students' total would have been much less! Ed Davis's spell of 2-2 aided the collapse.

BAT Sports B moved into fourth by beating Highfield by 16 runs, which just keeps the defeated side on the fringe of the relegation zone.

Once again, the Tobaccomen's tally of 116-5 was built around 15-year-old Ricky Rawlins' excellent half-century, with support from Ian Fiebelkorn (22). Steve Taylor battled for Highfield with 34 but Steve Lockyer (2-21) scorched their hopes.

The Division Two title race has been cut to three, with Purbrook looking in ominous form with a game in hand in third, just 15 points adrift of leaders Eastleigh & Otterbourne B.

They hammered Lyndhurst by six wickets despite Hamed's 26 and Dave Agha's stout 24 not out.

Pete Andrews finished with amazing indoor figures of three overs for three runs, taking the wicket of Lee Hussain into the bargain.

Andy Holder (25*) reached retirement, but Andrews and McIntosh saw them home with ten balls to spare to put them two points beneath Paultons B, who saw off their club mates by 18 runs.

Mark Weaver (26*) pushed B to 100-5 which was too many for the C team, especially with Pete Rayner in clinical form taking 3-14 with Mark Lamb's help (2-27) flattened the basement dwellers to 82-5 in reply.
