FROM Super Furry Animals to super-furry Australians, Southampton Guildhall will be running the gamut of entertainment in its new autumn season.

It's all quiet at the Guildhall at the moment, but things will be hotting up from next month with a host of acts covering everything from comedy and tribute shows to hypnotists and indie pop favourites.

The entertainment starts on September 26 with a performance by acclaimed Welsh popsters Super Furry Animals.

Renowned for their trend-bucking approach to music, and currently riding high on rave reviews for their new album, this should be a gig to remember.

The following day at the Guildhall, you can see jack of all trades Richard Blackwood - this time wearing his comedy hat.

Already well-known as a rap star and MTV presenter, the multi-talented Blackwood will be appearing in Southampton as part of an extensive stand-up tour of the UK.

Also in September, there are performances by the Shaolin Monks, a 20-strong troupe of Chinese monks who illustrate the Buddhist concept of the "wheel of life" through a series of astonishing kung fu moves, and Bolly-wood singer Anuradha Paud-wal.

On October 13, the Guildhall plays host to Australian star Rolf Harris. The Animal Hospital host will be entertaining his army of Southampton fans with jokes, stories and, of course, songs, which include Jake the Peg, Sun Arise and Tie Me Kangaroo Down.

French musical duo Air are next up, on October 18.

They are followed in November by Abba imitators Bjorn Again, comic double-act Armstrong and Miller, and TV hypnotist Paul McKenna.

The new season also boasts a strong classical music line-up, with the The Mozart Festival Orchestra, Bournemouth Sym-phony Orchestra and The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Portsmouth all entertaining.
