Portswood Cycle Shop has made its mark on the British Cycling Federation.

Brothers Philip and Andrew Gough both picked up honours at the British Circuit Race Championships, the team's first major competition.

Philip won the under-14 event by several bike lengths after 15 miles, while Andrew was pipped to first place in the under-16 event. He had led the 25-mile race until the last 50 metres, then he was overtaken by last year's British champion, Geriant Thomas of Cardiff, and had to settle for second.

The Southampton-based shop has only recently launched their own race team and its very much a family affair.

Father Stuart runs the team while Philip and Andrew ride.

Andrew said: "Both of us have ridden at schools level and won, but this was the first major championships we've been involved in."

The event was staged at Eastway in London and is one of the biggest on the BCF calendar.
